The thickness of our wires varies from 1.0 to 5.0 mm.2 mm wire is usually used for simple work. 2.4mm trimmer line is used for most gas and electric lawnmowers, as well as manual, pneumatic mowing machines, power tool, the square strimer line has higher cutting efficiency with a clean lawn job. 2.7-3.0 mm wire thickness is recommended for professional use. Twisted trimmer lines are commonly used in lawns and gardens as a cutting tool for trimming grass and weeds. They are made out of nylon. They are twisted together to create a strong, durable line that can withstand the abrasiveness of cutting dense vegetation. The twisted shape of the line provides added cutting power and reduces the likelihood of the line breaking or fraying during use. The string trimmer line comes in three diameters or weights:

Trimmer line also come in different shapes, but the shapes aren't just for looks. Trimmer line shapes change how efficiently a trimmer cuts and how it cuts. Generally, the most common trimmer line shapes are round, twist, square, star, six-sided lines and so on. Trimmer line with edges tends to cut more strongly than round lines, but it also breaks more frequently against harder surface.
1. Round trimmer line is the most standard type and the most commonly used, which is less resistant to breakage, but it tends to tear grass more than other types because it lacks cutting edges.

3. Multi-sided trimmer line always leads with a cutting edges to easily cut dense grass and weeds, more edges create more cutting power. It's best for users to try a few and use what works for them.
It's important to mote that using line that has more cutting power can sometimes take a trimmer user off guard. The cutting edges can make the line "grab" vegetation a little more than round and twisted line. That grabbing action can acctually pull the trimmer down toward the ground. So users should be prepared to offer additional resistance.
String Trimmer Line Shapes
Depending on what you are trimming or cutting, the shape or style string line is as important as the diameter.
- Round trimmer line works best for home/residential use. The basic shape doesn't wear or break as easily as other styles, making it more durable for use near concrete, trees, and fences. Round line is usually the easiest to replace and has a longer life than other styles. However, the round line lacks a cutting edge and rips grass instead of cutting it.
- The twisted trimmer line has a better cutting edge and is stronger than the round line. Normally used to cut back thick, heavy weeds, this trimmer line delivers clean cuts while reducing trimmer vibrations and noise levels. The added strength also helps decrease line wear and breakage when hitting hard surfaces.
- The squared trimmer line offers four sharp edges that cut through grass rather than ripping. With this extra cutting power, the square trimmer line cuts through thicker weeds more easily and works well on modest-to-heavy, thick, overgrown vegetation and undergrowth.
- A multi-sided (AKA star-shaped) trimmer line has multiple edges that quickly and efficiently cut through heavier grass and thicker weeds. However, it breaks more easily when striking rocks, stones, concrete, and fences.
- A serrated trimmer line works just like a serrated knife. It easily saws through heavy weeds and grass, leaving a clean cut and reducing work time.
